my dad{rip}, was a faithful jw since the year i was born, i'm 60, he died 2 years ago.
his last 12 years were spent in an assisted living/nursing home right in the small town where he spent the last 8 years of being an elder/pioneer.
when he went into the home, one brother would visit him regularly, but after 4 years, that friend moved away, and visitation from the locals ceased, for 8 years!!!!!!!
my old dad died a year ago. 95. he had been in a care home 3 years. all elder visits dwindled. his own granddaughter--my daughter.---never visited him--ever. she lived less than a mile away.
i know he donated £5000 to the KH fund--which ended up sold--guess where the money went. he also donated £100 a month. i got power of attorney--and put a stop to that.
i organised his funeral--and forgot to notify the congregation he had died.
yesterday i made a visit to the museum in my city.
the top floor is the planetarium, which has a connecting room with a huge dome ceiling where they project lessons and lectures and you have a 360 view of the night sky etc.. this particular lecture explained about our galaxy, and how it's only one of billions in the universe.
and then we learned about each planet, some of their moons and the sun.
Then if I do have one off the wrist, he'll kill me.

consider: the great white shark (carcharodon carcharias) needs to catch and process food in order to survive.
its teeth are remarkable, being arranged in rows and rows that move forward, like a conveyor belt, so that these animals always have a full set of functioning teeth at any one time.. furthermore, the shape of this shark's teeth changes throughout its life.
i lived right on the sea front the year the film "jaws" came out. i never went in the sea that year--after i saw that film.

how do you define "group" as opposed to "congregation " i find it difficult to believe there are that many immigrant jw's in the UK. maybe a dozen in a large city.

the ratio in the UK--in the '60s was 1 in 800+.
i moved to the isle of wight in 1971. the ratio here was 1 in 400--over double the national average.

back in the 60's--the total for the UK was about 60,000---i heard a circo say "the british field is dead"
on the subject of immigration---it is now very expensive--and difficult-- for NON EA people to emigrate to the UK. my wife is filipina--so i know what i'm talking about! i am surprised there are 8 filipino congregations in the UK.
the congregation there had about eighty “publishers” in it.
it was a mix of farmers and city folks.
there were three to four families there who had moved in from other states, to help out.
in the UK--the magazines sold for 4 pence--pre decimalisation money. pioneers paid a penny each. i had a big magazine route--and the 75% profit paid for my petrol ( gas )
i remember when the black gold edged new world bible came out--we pioneers made a good profit on those. and thats all we were--door to door salesmen.
with all the rules that we had to live under to be a good christian it's a wonder that we aren't all neurotic basket cases like i am!
let's compile a list of transgressions and rules that we had to live by.
